Setting fire to the rain!

It was good to see so many people attending our party on Saturday; whether they were here for fun, or were here to accompany their friends, or for some - were here for their much needed promotion for their own society.

The showers of rain seemed not to have put out the flames of keen and eagerness of our Amazing Race participants:

So there was a total of eight teams, consisting mostly of Year Ones students or those who were new at UQ. Good to know that they were willing to come on a rainy Saturday to meet new friends and people, and touring around UQ together. :)

Here are a few pics from the two albums taken by our committee photographers Edward and Jocelyn:

A new semester awaits!

And so after three months of holidays another year of uni lies ahead of us. Perhaps this is your last year at uni and you know you are going to miss this place already. Or perhaps you have just arrived in Brisbane and this is your first year at uni! But fear not because UQHKSA will be organizing a variety of events again this semester to let you make the most out of your uni life.

If you have missed out joining us on UQ's Market Day, you will still be able to join us at UQHKSA's 2012 Welcoming Party on 3rd of March, 2012 (Saturday). The Party will be similar to the TV series "The Amazing Race" and will take place at UQ, St. Lucia Campus. For those who have just started attending UQ this year, you should definitely come to our Party as it is a great opportunity to get to know the place better before the semester actually starts, and of course to establish/expand your social network.

Facebook event invitations will be sent out soon, and if we haven't added you on Facebook yet, Please search for UQHKSA on Facebook and you will see the public event later in the week.

So remember! 3rd of March and we shall see you there! :)

Don't you just love online coupon deals?
I'm always on the look out for new places to eat in Brisbane, so keeping an eye out on those deals are a good place to start.  I'm glad to have picked out the elegant Restaurant Two in Brisbane CBD.  Although the dishes in terms of creativity were not particularly mind-blowing, the flavours were highly commendable!  The meat was cooked to perfection and portions were generous.
Overall a nice & romantic fine dining experience.

Sunnybank Oriental

Hello people! This will be the first time I'm blogging about food, so if there's anything sh*tty about my post, keep this in mind thanks :)

And so my friends and I went to Sunnybank Oriental for dinner the other night.

The restaurant's location itself is pretty convenient,
as there's a spacious carpark right across the road.

The 宮保雞丁 was pretty good. Meat was tender;
amount of spices was just right; nice variety of vegetables; yet the carrots weren't soft enough.

Apparently our dear YY (also known as Nathaniel) loves this stew. The soup was great, and with the vegetables soaking in the soup, it brings a easy-to-chew, moist food texture. I didn't like how they tried to fill up the bottom of the pot with 粉絲 (starch noodles?) though.

Free publicity for YY. :)

The dish itself is not well-presented and seems quite small in portion,
but is compensated through the tenderness of the meat.

IMO, The chicken was perfect -
tender, meaty (not much fat was present), and the bones were well-taken care of.
The shrooms were bit chewy though, don't know whether that's a good thing or a bad one.

And we had Fruit Punch to accompany our meals with. Their Fruit Punch was more of a Mango/Pineapple Slushee, which actually tastes pretty good.

However it is to be noted that we were quite unsatisfied with their service. Our dishes and drinks (esp. rice. Took them 30 mins to fill up a bucket of rice?) came later than other patrons.

When asked for more glasses of Fruit Punch, their simple respond (After having the drinks ordered for 10 mins) was:
"Sorry, 賣晒Fruit Punch".

The reliability of the statement? Judge for yourselves my friends.
Came from the mouths of retards if you ask me.

SONO @ BNE CBD

Sports News Update (BPL)

As a well known fact that soccer is a very common sport in Hong Kong and lots of people follow the Barclays Premier League. For the members that don't follow soccer, let me do a brief introduction about the BPL. It is the top division football league of England and many famous soccer stars are/were in it, include the former World Footballer of the year Cristiano Ronaldo, former England captain David Beckham etc. There are 4 dominant teams in the BPL which is called the "Big Four", they are Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal (=_=").

As a die hard fan of soccer, I will be here to conclude the results of BPL each week. This week, I picked two good matches to share with everyone.

The first game is Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City, Man City defeated Hotspur convincingly with a score of 5-1, Edin Dzeko scored 4 goals and the newbie of BPL Sergio Aguero scored one. Manchester City has a promising start of the season with 3 wins and they are coming second in BPL at the moment.

The second game is between Manchester United and Arsenal. As a well known fact that Manchester United and Arsenal are the biggest rivals for the last few years and the score is always very tight. Surprisingly, this year's score line is a bit different. Manchester United defeated Arsenal with a score of 8-2. It doesn't sounds normal, does it? Unfortunate it is the truth. Wayne Ronney scored a hat trick (3 goals), Danny Welbeck scored one, Ashley Young scored two and Park Ji Sung scored one. Theo Walcott and Robin Van Persie scored for Arsenal. So now u might wonder howcome the scoreline was so ridiculous for this game. In my opinion, Arsenal sold too many good players and the new players are struggling to adapt to the team.
If you can come up with any ideas why Arsenal is not performing,
please feel free to discuss with us and I will be very happy to discuss it with you!

Now let me share some game day photos with you guys, have a good week and I will see you all next week.
